"Good Morning Starshine, The Earth Says Hello."
I say this to Marley quite often as she wakes from a deep slumber with Bob her baby doll squeezed lovingly in her arms. Marleys baby, Bob, as she has named her, was my very first attempt at making a Waldorf inspired doll, and now I am working on dolls daily, only 5 months after finishing Bob. Bob was a Christmas gift to Marley from me, along with a few other handmade toys and things. After working to perfect this doll for 2 months I was so worried that all the other toys from grandparents and SANTA would take all the attention I almost told people not to get her any toys! I kept my mouth shut and on that very bright and early morning my heart skipped a beat when she ran and picked up the baby doll that was laying in front of the tree and squeezed her tight... of course she then dropped her and ran to the Elmo toy and the RODY horse... but I was satisfied ( besides it is pretty hard to compete with a red furry monster, and a rubber horse that you can bounce on!). Marley played with her doll but did not attach to it right away, or so it seemed to me... But one day she fell and bumped her head and cried and cried, but she didn't want me nor the dog or the blanket, but she wanted her baby. Ever since that day she sleeps, eats, naps, plays, and talks to her. One day I even learned that the Baby had a name, she calls her Bob, which is also the name of a plant in our house. I often watch in amazement as she mimics me while playing with Bob, it is really a beautiful sight to behold, A child playing with a doll, which is why I decided to keep making them, for other children and parents to experience.
